Are current efforts to cut emissions enough to prevent civilization-threatening climate change? If not, and if we do hit tipping points that lead to rapidly accelerating climate catastrophe, what’s the plan?

Scientists tell us we are entering a range of uncertainty, where such tipping point scenarios could unfold at any point in coming decades. Yet just as public health experts warned governments of an inevitable covid style pandemic, the world is not preparing to prevent and respond to these catastrophic scenarios. The Climate Contingency Hub has been created to help ensure that the world builds a credible, effective, safe, just, and sustainable plan to manage near-term catastrophic climate risks.

We believe that with the right groundwork, effective, safe, sustainable, and legitimate emergency responses are possible.

The Hub will work collaboratively behind the scenes to build the political will necessary to prioritize climate contingency planning, secure increased funding for critical research and development, and establish legitimate frameworks for governance and decision-making.

A nonprofit organization led by three principals with decades of strong accomplishment in climate advocacy and diplomacy, the Climate Hub will formally launch in early 2025. We are seeking bold, strategic thinkers and doers to help shape this initiative, drive its early successes, and build it into a transformative force for climate action.  â€‹â€‹

We need a team of flexible, adaptive, and experienced senior staff who can work nimbly and collaboratively to achieve the Hub's mission. Each member will have clear responsibilities and be empowered to lead significant areas of work. But the Hub will also operate as a single team, with each of us leveraging our expertise to strengthen and enhance each other’s work, and in responding to emerging opportunities.
